Follina has ancient origins going back before the 1000 year and it is situated on the foot of Prealpi Trevigiane, in the middle between Valdobbiadene and Vittorio Veneto. Follina's development has been in the XII century when a group of cistercian benedict monks settled here and, owing to the abundance of water, began a booming industry working the woollen clothes. Follina, located in a fascinating position in the Valsana has many attractions: the principal is Santa Maria Abbey, founded around the 1150, in Romanesque-Gothic style.
It is a spiritual and religious centre for pilgrims, and is one of the most remarkable monuments of the region. Nowadays Follina is an important turistic- cultural place with also splendid eighteen century buildings. It is a centre of industrial activities and handicraft.
