Paese is situated in the inner suburbs of Treviso and is made up of five country wards: Paese–the main town, Padernello, Porcellengo, Postioma and Castagnole. The origins of Paese go way back in time. Recent studies have brought to light in the area the existence of numerous traces of deviations of the river Piave and of interesting relics of the ancient Roman Centuriazione territory.
The Roman presence is also testified to by the discovery of tombs and fragments of tiles and bricks. It is probable, however, that groups of humans settled in the territory of Paese as far back as a few millenniums before Christ. The one- time rural civilisation has left a precious heritage in the form of rustic buildings, manor houses, barchesse and barchi farm buildings which are present in various localities.
