The name Scorzé derives from the adjective attributed to the people who
first lived on the banks of the Dese who, as well as sheep-farming, also
practised the profession of tanning, from which came scorzer, scorzeri or
scorzadi. The historical origins of Scorzé date back to the Roman era, and the
town has experienced many vicissitudes since then. The post war period saw the
beginning of the gradual development, in Scorzé as in the whole of the North-
East, of industrial and commercial activities. The most prized products of the
agricultural cultivations, especially that of vegetables, are the spadone and
tardivo varieties of radicchio chicory, which have been bestowed with the I.G.P.
(Protected Geographical Identification) guarantee. At Scorzè, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
